Phenolic Lockers
What is Phenolic?
Phenolic panels are decorative sheets saturated in melamine resin with kraft fiber sheets impregnated with phenolic resin that are then pressed and heated into a composite panel. The panels are formed at pressures exceeding 1000 PSI and at temperatures near 300 degrees Fahrenheit. The more layers of kraft fiber sheets the thicker the phenolic panel becomes. The process of combining the melamine resin with the look of decorative sheets creates a scratch resistant esthetically pleasing surface, that will not delaminate, rust or corrode.
Once the fusing process described above is completed, the final product is one of the most durable surfaces available for fabrication. Here are some key points about the material.
- Phenolic is graffiti resistant. Permanent marker is easily removed with household cleaners or solvents.
- Phenolic surface is non-absorbent. Water and odors will not be absorbed into the material. Phenolic lockers are ideal for wet and humid environments.
- Phenolic material will not rust, warp, delaminate, dent, break or chip under normal use and care.
- Vandalism is virtually eliminated because you cannot carve or cut phenolic materials easily with a knife. While any material can be scratched or damaged if given enough time, phenolic deters vandals from repeated attempts due to its dense structure.
- Phenolic panels are mold and mildew proof. Bacteria, fungus and mold cannot dwell within the material so it provides a sanitary surface.
